We have to move in thirteen days. So we popped the caps off of a couple of Bad Pennies and started packing at 10:45 p.m. on a Wednesday. We started by cleaning out the kitchen junk drawer. Molly took a pocket corkscrew, the nine volt battery that goes in the smoke detector in her room, and Ciera’s shrink-wrapped box of Ghirardelli chocolates that expired just two weeks ago. I took a package of finishing nails, reclaimed my mini-pliers, grill lighter, tube of superfine “Florentine gold” glitter, scissors, and unopened package of sparklers, and also confiscated without permission a half-used roll of masking tape, an expo marker, a Sharpie marker, and two different sized clothes pins. Dania looked into what was left in the drawer (mostly unused Chipotle napkins and a pile of Ciera’s old PSNC bills, junk mail from Capitol One), threw up her hands and said, “I’m over it.”
